Loving wife, grandmother and great grandmother passed away January 29, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born August 12, 1918 to Charles Albert Horsley and Alice Fanny Rudd. Married Melvin W. Garfield in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She served in the LDS Church as Primary president, Sunday School Teacher, and Relief Society president. She was a member of the Rose Park 3rd Ward for many years.

Throughout her life she served her family, husband and church. She truly loved going for drives in the car and taking her friends to church and luncheons. She worked for Sears Roebuck for approximately 20 years.

Survived by her daughter, Joyce Garfield (Jerry) Prentice; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved to tend and take for drives in the car. Preceded in death by her husband, Melvin W. Garfield; father, mother and brothers Kenneth and Grant Horsley.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2002 at 1 p.m., at the Rose Park 1st Ward (1153 W. 800 N.). Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, and Saturday from 11:45-12:45 p.m. prior to services at the ward. Interment: Redwood Memorial Estates.
