DENVER — The Denver Nuggets have formed a Hispanic advisory committee two months after former coach Dan Issel made an insensitive remark to a Hispanic fan.

The group met Wednesday to discuss Kroenke Sports Enterprises' community relations efforts, company spokesman Tom Philand said. Future meetings will focus on how the company can develop deeper roots in the Hispanic population, he said. Hispanics make up about a third of the city's population.

Hispanic activists asked for such a committee after Issel shouted at the fan following a Dec. 11 game. Issel resigned on Dec. 26.

The advisory committee held its first meeting last week. Ernest Gurule, a spokesman for the University of Colorado, has been elected chairman.

Kroenke Sports owns the Nuggets and the Colorado Avalanche.
