78-vehicle pileup closes highway

Wreckage of vehicles litters a section of California 58 Thursday near Caliente. An estimated 78 vehicles collided Thursday on the foggy Kern County highway, killing one person and injuring 11, authorities said. The wreckage shut down the highway.
