ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A United Airlines flight bound for the Washington, D.C., area returned to New York shortly after takeoff Thursday because a threatening note was found on the plane, official said.
The note was written on a window shade, officials said. Authorities wouldn't disclose the content of the message.
FBI and Monroe County officials were treating the note as a prank after interviewing the 50 passengers and four crew members of Flight 7229 at Greater Rochester International Airport.
The plane was allowed to leave for Dulles Airport after it was determined there wasn't anything on the aircraft that presented a threat, said airport director Terry Slaybaugh.
