Suzanne Mae Grua Murley, age 84, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2001 at the home of her daughter in Clayton, CA.

Suzanne was born Aug. 11, 1917, in Salt Lake City, daughter of Oscar Ernest Grua, MD, Sr. and Suzanna Mae Clark Grua and grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah. After her father's untimely death in 1932, the family moved to Salt Lake City where she graduated from East High School. She and her siblings undertook many jobs to help their mother raise her family and to provide for the education of all of the siblings.

Suzanne earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Utah in Business. She then took a job at the University. From there she went to Washington D.C. to work for a couple of years. Then her girlfriend talked her into getting a job in San Francisco. Dave and Suzanne had corresponded since they had first met in Salt Lake City. When Suzanne came to San Francisco, Dave contacted her and they started dating. Suzanne married J. David Murley, of Garrett, Indiana on November 21, 1942 in San Francisco, CA. They lived many places during her husband's military career, including Japan. After her husband retired they moved to Denver, CO.

They were a great example of true love. Dave loved serenading Sue any place and anytime all through their lives together and especially every night at bedtime. They loved to travel but their favorite getaway was their cabin on the South Platt River. They spent the majority of their weekends at the cabin fishing, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

Suzanne was active in many volunteer activities. She served as Chairman of the Gray Ladies at Keesler Air Force Base Hospital. When her children entered high school she returned to work as a secretary for the Bureau of Land Management and retired as a Contract Manager for BLM. She touched many lives through her spirit to live her life for others. Sue was loved by all that knew her.

Surviving are her husband, J. David, of Clayton her daughter Judith A. Hansen of Clayton and her son J. David (Jane) Murley, Jr. of Silverspring, Maryland and five grandchildren Jason (Becky) Hansen, Brandon (Heather) Hansen, Christina Hansen, Brian (Andrea) Murley and Kathleen Murley. Sue was also blessed with six great grandchildren. Her sister Marye (Mayo) Follet, Arizona survives her. She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Oscar Ernest and Suzanna Mae Clark Grua; a twin brother

Funeral services Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Timpanogos Stake Center 800 N. 100 W., Pleasant Grove. Friends may call at 10 a.m. before the service. A graveside dedication will be held at the Grua family plot in Pleasant Grove, Utah after the funeral service. She will be buried beside her mother and father. Memorial contributions are requested to be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
