Olympic fireworks tested in daylight

Those booms you might have heard today coming from the sky above Bonneville Golf Course and This is the Place Heritage Park weren't planes testing the sound barrier.

Instead, the Salt Lake Organizing Committee planned to put on a daylight fireworks test in the early afternoon to prepare for the many fireworks shows that will be lighting up the evening skies each night of the Winter Games.

SLOC representative Nancy Volmer said the tests were done during the daytime because they were testing for the sound and loudness of the fireworks.
