- Mildred West Clay, 81, passed away quietly at her home in Bountiful on Jan. 3, 2002.

Mildred was born April 24, 1920 in Ogden, Utah to Loyal Allen and Verna Pickford West. She graduated Phi Kappa Phi from Utah State University in 1948 and taught school for many years.

She married Robert Blaine Clay in 1948, and they recently celebrated their 50th anniversary.

Mildred was active in the LDS church and held various positions in the ward and stake Primary, Relief Society and Young Women's organizations.

She is survived by her husband and their six adopted children: John Robert (Glenda) Clay, Carol Clay Evans, Ann Clay Badii, Colleen Clay (Joseph) Martin, Thomas Alan (Cherrie) Clay, Karen Clay (Doug) Cooley, 15 grand-children; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Maurine Keyes; and sister-in-law, Lorraine West. She was preceded in death by her parents; broth-er Loyal West, Jr.; brother-in-law, Robert Keyes; son-in-law, Barney Evans; and grandson, Nicholas Bryant Clay.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 7, 2002, 11 am at the Orchard First Ward Chapel in Bountiful, 3707 S. 800 W. where friends and family may call from 10-10:45 a.m. Visitation will also be held Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. Interment will be held at

Aultorest Cemetery in Ogden.
