Was: 1. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: The Bruins are blazing their way through league play with Danielle Chessman averaging 20 points per game — and she's just one of the weapons.

2. Kearns (10-2) Class: 5A

Was: 2. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: The defending 5A champions soundly defeated region rival Bingham by 20 points on Friday to show last year was no fluke.

3. Clearfield (11-2) Class: 5A

Was: 3. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: The Falcons are still perfect in region play and looking better than ever as midseason approaches.

4. Bingham (10-1) Class: 5A

Was: 4. Last week: 1-1. Outlook: Had a tough week with a one-point victory over Taylorsville and a 20-point loss to the defending 5A champion Cougars. Two top scorers held to four points each in the loss.

5. Timpanogos (11-1) Class: 5A

Was: 6. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: The T-Wolves have yet to meet the Bruins but have handled every other region opponent with teamwork and tough defense.

6. Murray (11-1) Class: 4A

Was: 7. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: The Spartans get better each week and are the only undefeated team in the region. That will be a tough record to keep with the Braves and the Rams looking for revenge.

7. Highland (9-2) Class: 4A

Was: 7. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: With Melissa Dennett and Sharee Hendrix capable of double figures every game, the Rams can only get better.

8. Timpview (7-3) Class: 4A

Was: 8. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: Surprised everybody with a win over Lone Peak last week. The Thunderbirds proved the state tournament will be interesting this year.

9. Lone Peak (12-1) Class: 4A

Was: 5. Last week: 1-1. Outlook: The Knights fell to Timpview for their first loss of the season.

10. Mountain Crest (10-1) Class: 4A

Was: 16. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: The Mustangs had two huge wins over Logan and Fremont last week to take over the region's top spot as the only unbeaten team in league play. Balanced attack will make them tougher to beat as the season continues

11. Copper Hills (7-5) Class: 5A

Was: —. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: The Grizzlies only region loss comes from the Cougars. Their real test will be Friday against Bingham, where they have the chance to really turn some heads.

12. Judge (12-2) Class: 3A

Was: 12. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: Rose Hamilton found her way out of her shooting slump to help the Bulldogs to two more victories.

13. Logan (9-2) Class: 4A

Was: 11. Last week: 1-1. Outlook: Tough week for the Grizzlies as Mountain Crest beats them at home 58-53. But they weren't alone in losing to the Mustangs.

14. Fremont (8-2) Class: 4A

Was: 10. Last week: 1-1. Outlook: The Silver Wolves also fell to the hot-handed Mustangs in Hyrum. Region 4 should be a very interesting contest.

15. Hurricane (13-1) Class: 3A

Was: 14. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: A good week for the Tigers with a win over Pine View — a team that went on to end Dixie's perfect season.

16. Wasatch (11-2) Class: 3A

Was: 15. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: The Wasps are continuing with their winning ways in region play.

17. Provo (9-4) Class: 4A

Was: 20. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: Two region victories can only help their cause.

18. Alta (7-6) Class: 5A

Was: —. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: After a tough preseason, coach's predictions coming true. The Hawks have only lost one region game, and that's to No. 1 ranked Mountain View.

19. Dixie (13-1) Class: 3A

Was: —. Last week: 1-1. Outlook: The Flyers' perfect season came to an end in Thursday's Pine View game.

20. Bountiful (8-3) Class: 4A

Was: 17. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: With only one loss in Region 5 play, the Braves have to be reckoned with.
