PLEASANT GROVE — Pleasant Grove's Colt Sampson had a steal and two foul shots in the game's final seconds to preserve the Vikings' 64-61 Region 6 victory over Timpview Tuesday night.

Timpview was unbeaten in league play and 8-4 overall heading into the contest, and with the win the Vikings (9-4) move into a tie atop the league standings with 5-1 records.

Sampson led the Vikings with 15 points and teammate Cameron Patch added 12 more, while Jake Moon led the T-Birds with 15 points.

REGION 1

LAYTON 52, CLEARFIELD 51: Brent Egan's 3-pointer at the buzzer, his fourth of the game, helped the Lancers hand the Falcons their first region loss of the season. Jared Moultrie led Clearfield with 15 points.

DAVIS 78, VIEWMONT 71: Tim Sargent scored 21 points as the Darts defeated the Vikings. Jordan Matthews made four 3-pointers and scored 18 for Viewmont.

COTTONWOOD 56, NORTHRIDGE 40: Mark Chandler led the Colts to a win with 18 points. Brad Barrett led Northridge with 17 points.

REGION 5

WEST 65, HIGHLAND 57: The Panthers jumped out to a 16-5 first quarter lead en route to the region win over the Rams. William Taukauvia posted 21 points to lead West.

OLYMPUS 67, EAST 55: Dan Young, Lance Wallin, Craig Walton and Brandon Miller all scored in double figures, with Walton leading the way with 20, as the Titans knocked off the Leopards. Chris Grant added 21 for East.

CYPRUS 60, WOODS CROSS 58: The Pirates defeated the Wildcats when Woods Cross missed a shot at the buzzer. Monty Rogers led Cyprus with 18 points.

REGION 6

LONE PEAK 68, PROVO 53: Taylor Risher made five of Lone Peak's 11 3-pointers as the Knights beat the Bulldogs.

PAYSON 76, SPRINGVILLE 59: Brady Buys led five Payson scorers that hit for double figures with 17 points as Payson snapped a two-game region slide. Nick Ozuna and Matt Oakey led Springville with 10 points each.

MONUMENT VALLEY 51, SAN JUAN JV 44: Art Begay scored 16 points to lead the Cougars to victory.
