CAM JONES, Brighton: There is a good reason that this talented senior grappler has lost only one match in three years — he thinks about wrestling 24-7-365.

He eats, drinks and sleeps the sport.

And, as Brighton coach Ted Sierer puts it, "he has ice water in his veins. He doesn't panic when other kids might collapse."

Jones is 29-0 this year while wrestling at 125 pounds and was named outstanding wrestler at the Viewmont Invitational earlier in the year. At 103 pounds, he took state as a sophomore, and then as a junior he moved up to 119 pounds and won that championship. Now he has his sights set on the title at the 125 pound weight class.

CANDACE MATTSON, Lone Peak: Candace Mattson was asked to change positions this season, as Lone Peak had plenty of outside game but very little in the middle. The consummate team player, she did as her coach asked, and the result is a phenomenal season for her and the Knights.

The only position she hasn't really played regularly is point guard.

"Her stability inside has made all the difference for us," coach Shauna Kay said. "At first she wanted to roam around the 3-point line. But she likes it a lot now (playing inside)."

And why shouldn't she? The senior averages almost 20 points and 10 boards per game.
