The U.S. Department of the Interior has upheld a $15,000 civil penalty against a Utah man who reportedly harmed prairie dog habitat.

Last month U.S. Department of the Interior Administrative Law Judge Patricia McDonald upheld the fine against Lin Drake of Drake Enterprises.

McDonald found that between December 1995 and March 1996, Drake, a residential land developer near Cedar City, knowingly harmed about 74 prairie dogs by altering and destroying land inhabited by the threatened species.
