BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) — More than half of the $5 million a Jersey City, N.J., man is suspected of stealing from ATMs has turned up in an abandoned house here, authorities said.
The cash, $3 million in crisply bundled $20 bills, was found over the weekend piled in duffel bags on the floor of the home, said Alan Sadowski, a senior local FBI agent.
Authorities believe the money was taken by Michael Schwartz, 36, who was supposed to restock automated teller machines with the bills.
Schwartz was found dead on Christmas Day in a West Palm Beach apartment that he briefly shared with another man, Chris Lacroix. The cause of his death has not been determined, but investigators said they suspected it was related to drinking.
