MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut's television and radio stations are joining police in a program aimed at quickly finding abducted children.

The Amber Alert System, first developed in Texas, is similar to the emergency system used to alert the public to weather problems.

It will be activated any time a child is reporting missing.

The broadcasts from the state police will include a description of the child, last whereabouts and a description of the abductor.
