Vail Jensen Phillips, age 83, died January 7, 2002 at home with family in Midvale, Utah.

He was born May 5, 1918 in Kaysville, Utah to Douglas Blood Phillips and Crystal Ann Jensen. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Douglas Howard Phillips. He married Lenore Neeley in 1939 in Driggs, Idaho. They moved from Driggs to Utah in 1943. He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. He was self employed for most of his career. He is survived by his wife, Lenore, of 62 years and sons: Vail Jay (Sharon) Phillips, Southlake, Texas; Douglas Howard Phillips, Houston, Texas; Don Austin Phillips, So. Jordan, Utah; brother, Boyd Earl (Donna) Phillips, Bountiful, Utah; sister Virginia Phillips Price, Driggs, Idaho; sister in Law, Norma Neeley Schmid, Bountiful, Utah grandchildren: Colleen (Wade) Roundy, Tucson, Arizona; Julie (Brad) Winterton, Atlanta, Georgia; Noelle (Joseph) Whitaker, Frisco, Texas;

Nathan Phillips, So. Jordan, Utah; Amy (Saifar) Nisar, Salt Lake City, Utah; 14 great-grandchildren and many close nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, 12 p.m. Noon, January 10, 2002 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah where friends may call from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
