SHARE Obituary: Gerda R. Kyle

Gerda Ruth Kyle walked into the arms of her loving God on Monday, January 7, 2002. She was the best grandmother in the world; she's now the guardian angel to her darlings, Jeni and Aly.

Gerda was born June 18, 1931 in Germany to Kurt and Martha Sonnabend. She sur-vived the war and jokes about the police record she earned there stealing food for her family and neighbors. Taking care of others would be her pattern for life. She married Ernest Jefferson Kyle in 1954 in Germany, then missed the boat to America. He was in the military; she joined him in the United States 3 months later. He died in 1996.

She spent her life caring for children. She learned English working in a nursery, with 4-year olds her able tutors. She became an American citizen in 1961.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Drs. Christina Richards and Lisa Stout, who not only cared for her body, but loved her, as well.

She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Lois Collins Kyle (Salt Lake City); a daughter and son-in-law, LoriAnn and Jim Thomas (Winterpark, Florida); and a daughter, Evelyn Kyle (St.

Petersburg, FL); and three granddaughters: Shanna, Jenifer and

Alyson, as well as many, many good friends. She never met a stranger.

An informal memorial service will be held Thursday, January 10, 2002 at 5 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple.
