The Greek Orthodox Church of Salt Lake has secured pledges totalling $5.6 million toward its remodeling of the historic Holy Trinity Cathedral, 300 West and 300 South, and the adjacent Hellenic Hall.

Nick M. Bapis, chairman of the capital campaign committee, said the goal is $8.4 million to refurbish the buildings and do seismic upgrades. The church was built in 1924.

Donations are still being sought, and the church hopes to make a more specific announcement later this year on its remodeling plans.
