MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: After losing to No. 2 UCLA on Thursday, the No. 4 BYU men's volleyball team set numerous rally scoring school records in defeating the Bruins in five closely contested games (28-30, 30-28, 31-29, 31-33, 15-12) on Saturday at Pauley Pavilion.
WOMEN'S TRACK: The BYU women's track team maintained its stranglehold on the conference, coming home from the Mountain West Conference Indoor Track Championships with a fourth consecutive indoor track title. BYU finished with 175 points, followed by Colorado State with 131 and Wyoming with 101.
MEN'S TRACK: BYU brought home eight individual titles to score 182 points but came up just short in its quest to win a fourth consecutive indoor track title in the Mountain West Conference, losing to Colorado State by nine points.
BASEBALL: Matt Carson led BYU with two hits and three RBI as the Cougars topped Hawaii 4-3 Saturday afternoon.
Weber State
MEN'S TRACK: Jeremy Tolman became the first athlete in Big Sky history to win three individual titles in one championship, leading the Wildcats to their 2nd straight Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship and the third in the past four years.
The Wildcats scored a meet record 170.50 points. Northern Arizona was second with 138. WSU scored 126.50 points on Saturday to pull away from the field.
Tolman, who won the 5,000 meters on Friday night, came back Saturday to win the mile and 3,000 meters within a two hour span.
WOMEN'S TRACK: After finishing second eight of the pastnine years, coach Jim Blaisdell's crew got its fourth Big Sky indoor crown and the first since 1992. The Wildcats finished with 159 points, 19 better than Montana State.
Utah State
TRACK: Both Aggie men's and women's teams finished seventh overall at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Championships.
Junior colleges
BASKETBALL: Utah Valley State College defeated Salt Lake Community College, 78-56, Saturday night in Orem. Scott Henry led SLCC with 13 points.
SUU/Utah
BASEBALL: Southern Utah pounded out a trio of two-run home runs and got a solid pitching performance from starter James Anderson to defeat in-state rival Utah, 7-4, Saturday night in St. George.
