MOUNT PLEASANT — Bobby Stefanco made 3-of-5 free throws in the fourth quarter to help Wasatch Academy hang on to beat St. Joseph 60-55 in a 1A play-in game on Tuesday.

Matas Armonas led the way for Wasatch Academy with 21 points.

The Tigers won't have much time to rest, though. Wasatch Academy is scheduled to face undefeated Valley Wednesday night at 8 p.m. in the first round of the 1A boys basketball state tournament at Southern Utah University.

In other Tuesday play-in games

MILFORD 84, MONUMENT VALLEY 75: The Tigers outscored the the Cougars 30-18 in the fourth quarter to advance to the 1A tournament. Milford meets West Desert at 5:50 p.m. in the first round.

MANILA 60, ESCALANTE 59: Jeff Catron scored 18 as Manila survived two last-second opportunities for Escalante.

Manila advanced to face Meridian in the an first-round game Wednesday morning.
