Congratulations to Rocky Anderson for providing fun, free and diverse entertainment at Washington Square during the Olympics. Many of our local entertainers and cultural groups were not invited to participate in the Olympics, but Rocky showcased our local talent in the heart of the city. I have never been so proud of Salt Lake as I am now. Our city was transformed these past days from misunderstood and underused into a revitalized, living community, whether or not you chose to drink alcohol.
I was at Washington Square just about every night and visited many other Olympic venues that offered the sale of alcohol, including Bud World. Very rarely did I notice anyone who seemed remotely intoxicated. The small-minded thinking that the sale of alcohol produces mini-riots is proven to be wrong when one considers how smooth and secure the entire Olympics went. To blame the Bud World incident on Rocky Anderson is ridiculous.
Rocky, thank you for recognizing that prohibition was repealed in 1933.
