Jesse I. Lopez, 77, our beloved and respected father and grandfather, passed away March 3, 2002 surrounded by his family.

He was born April 20, 1924 in Highland Boy, Bingham Canyon, Utah to Jesse

and Julia Valdez Lopez. He married Carmen M. Lopez in Ely, Nevada in 1946. Jesse worked for Kennecott Copper for over 35 years on the powder gang and in security. He was the Town Marshal for 14 years in Bingham Canyon, Utah and also worked as a Salt Lake County Jailer with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office. A Veteran of World War II, Jesse was a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors: Carmen M. Lopez (divorced); children, Jesse G. Lopez (MaryEllen), Carol Gibson (Leroy), Phillip S. Lopez (Diana), Patricia N. Taylor (Roger), Cathy E. Lopez, Aaron Lopez; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Blacky Casanova; sister, Inez Lopez.

Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Ralph Lopez, Octavio Lopez and Fred Lopez.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 7, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Copperton, Utah. Holy Rosary and Vigil will be recited Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at 7:30 p.m. in the Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, where friends may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
