Obituary: Dena Winkel Allen

Our loving mother and grandmother, Dena Winkel Allen, 93, died April 11, 2002 at her home in Bountiful, Utah of causes incident to age.

Born Aug. 26, 1908 in Salt Lake City to Hendrik and Everdina van Ojen Winkel. Married Luris Porter Allen, Oct. 4, 1928 in the Salt Lake Temple. Dena attended schools in Richfield, Utah and Snow College. Her husband preceded her in death on March 23, 1992.

Survived by her children, LeGrande (Marva); Elaine (Martell) Beeton, Bountiful; Carol Gene (Reed) Carson, Shirley (Gerald) Beeton, David (Kathy), of Centerville; Dianne (Bill) deJel, Pleasant Grove; Wayne (Virginia), Fruit Heights; Antonia (Dale) Wilder, Fremont, CA; sisters, Rose Hallen, Salt Lake City; Pauline (Francis) Broadbent, Davis, CA; brother, Francis (Rose) Winkel, Aurora, UT; She enjoyed her 49 grandchildren; 170 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Active in the LDS Church, served in all auxiliaries, including president of Relief Society, YWMIA, and Primary. Served four missions with her husband to Texas, Arizona, Georgia, and Montana and temple ordinance worker. Dena loved fishing, camping and family parties. Lived mostly in Gunnison, Provo and Bountiful.

Funeral Monday, April 15, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Bountiful 27th Ward, 1145 No. 200 East, Bountiful. Viewing just prior to the services from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
