Herbert Franz Jackstien died surrounded by loved ones from complications resulting from pneumonia.

Herbert was born to Albert Jackstien and Auguste Preuss Jackstien in Salt Lake City where he resided until his death. Herb was the devoted husband of Florence Johannesen Jackstien who preceded him in death in 1985. Married 1938. Later solemnized in the LDS Temple. Herb worked for the US Postal Service until his retirement and was a talented, accomplished pianist throughout his life, giving pleasure to all who had the opportunity to hear him play. He was an active member of the LDS Church, having served as organist and ward clerk for Hawthorne Ward. Herb loved to fish the streams of Millcreek Canyon and golf and travel with his wife and friends. Veteran of World War II.

Survived by daughter, Karen Jorgensen; son, Michael Jackstien; grandchildren, Brigitte, Christian and Sarah Jackstien, and sister Mollie Barlow. Preceded in death by brothers Harry and Grant Jackstien and sister Freda Tuckel.

The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Evergreen Canyons Health and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care.

Graveside services at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Monday, April 8 at 12:30 p.m. Family and friends may honor his life one hour prior to services at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Dr. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
