I, Lloyd Matthew Felsted, was born July 3, 1924, in Garland, Utah, son of Bishop Spencer Matthew Felsted and Letha Farnsworth Felsted. I passed away April 4, 2002 in Salt Lake City, UT. I was preceded in the journey from my earthly home by a loving brother and sister, Max Felsted and Lois Scoville, and a most honorable father and mother.

The love of my life for fifty years, Ella Rae Henry Felsted and I were married in the Salt Lake Temple June 21, 1951. As I proceeded to the veil, I was honored to know that I would be blessed to have my earthly family with me for eternity: my loving companion, Ella Rae; my three beautiful and beloved daughters, Devon Pelton (Dave), Janet Maack (Dan), Anne Bell (Jim); and my honorable son, Spencer R. Felsted (Sabrina); thirteen grandchildren - grandsons: Dan and Eric Pelton, Jarret Young, Rigby Pelton, Adam Maack, Spencer Landon Felsted, Steven Bell; granddaughters: Nicci Naccarato, Traci Schade, Krista Maack, Amanda and Ashley Felsted, and Lisa Bell.

I acknowledge my profound indebtedness to my Father in Heaven for the following heaven-sent blessings: I was given to goodly parents who reared my brother and sister and me in the "Light of the Restored Gospel". As I grew from sickly, young years, I was blessed with a healthy body and a keen mind which allowed me to discern between right and wrong and a sincere desire to follow the teachings of the MASTER.

I had an insatiable desire to seek and gain various disciplines of education; I completed my undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Utah and USC.

The Lord gave me a wil-lingness to volunteer and serve my beloved country in the United States Naval Forces for 2 years in the Pacific Theater of War. I have never forgotten the fact that my Heavenly Father, at least once, was responsible for sparing my life during my naval service.

I realized the fulfillment of the Lord's promise pronounced upon my head prior to entering the military, that I would be granted the privilege of proclaiming The Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. This I did in the land of my ancestors, Denmark, for 2 years and also as an assistant to the Chaplain at Aiea Naval Hospital in Hawaii.

I knew the Lord's promise to me that I would be rewarded to meet and recognize my ETERNAL COMPANION was true. Together we would be blessed to bring righteous spirits, who awaited in their heavenly abode, to this earthly schoolroom.

I was told that I would be respected among my professional associates and serve as an example of the Lord's way. This came to fruition during my 36 years of tenure with CIBA Pharmaceutical Company.

The Lord promised that I, together with my eternal companion, would champion and defend the name of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Jr. for having brought forth the Restored Gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This we did in many parts of the world during some of our travels; however, our call to serve as a Senior Missionary Couple in the Bern Swiss Temple had to be one of the most cherished and shared blessings of our fifty years together.

Thus, I, Lloyd Matthew Felsted, for these and so many other unmentioned blessings, express my love and deepest appreciation to the Lord. Together, with my eternal companion, we bear witness to our dear children and grandchildren, and the world at large that the Lord Jesus Christ is our Savior, and the Restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a gift to all mankind. The blessings of having been born in this great land of America, the Lord's atonement for us, and His bringing forth the dispensation of the fullness of times are exceeded by no other gifts from our Heavenly Father. This I do express in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.

I convey my gratitude and thanks to my devoted medical team -- Kenneth J. Nielson, M.D; Rulon A. Simmons, M.D.; Greg J. Miller, M.D.; Care Source Hospice Personnel; and the Salt Lake City V.A. Hospital. In lieu of floral arrangements, the family and I suggest that contributions be made to Primary Children's Medical Center--Cancer Research Unit in Salt Lake City, UT.

As Lloyd's sweetheart, Ella Rae, and on behalf of our precious children and grandchildren, we wish to express our heartfelt love and gratitude to our Heavenly Father for giving us such a loving, kind, and generous companion, father, grandfather, and friend as the Patriarch of our home--a dedicated man who has always honored his Priesthood and who has been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served in many different capacities. We will all strive to make you proud of us by the way we conduct our lives and honor your great name. We express appreciation to all those who have been so kind and thoughtful during Lloyd's lingering illness. He loved you all.
