Stephen Trott, a member of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, will visit the University of Utah College of Law and serve as its jurist-in-residence April 9-10.
Trott will take part in a constitutional law class, speak to the first-year class and help judge the final round of the Traynor Moot Court Competition. He also will speak to faculty, staff, prosecutors and defense attorneys on "The Use of a Criminal as a Witness: A Special Problem."
Trott, who is based in Boise, was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1988. He has a bachelor of arts degree from Wesleyan University and a law degree from Harvard. He has been a member of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, the U.S. attorney for California, and also was an associate attorney general.
Trott also once was a member of the folk singing group the "Highwaymen," which had the hit single "Michael, Row the Boat Ashore."
