The Living Traditions Festival, Salt Lake City's celebration of ethnic and folk art, will be held at the Salt Lake City-County Building Friday, May 17, through Sunday, May 19. Admission is free.

Performing artists will include Zimbabwe's Oliver Mtukudzi & Black Spirits on May 17 at 8 p.m.; Latin Jazz great Pete Escovedo on May 18, 8 p.m., and the gospel group the Holme's Brothers on May 19 at 5 p.m.

Local artists and restaurants will sell their wares and foods in craft and culinary markets. And local musicians will perform throughout the festival.

A children's interactive area will be featured for the first time, and the Utah Humanities Council will sponsor workshops and discussions about Hispanics in Utah, Women of Islam, Japanese Internment and racial profiling.
