We reach a new high in silliness when we project that building the Legacy Highway will create or enhance terrorism.
The fact is that the Legacy is needed. You can't hook triple-tankers and long-haul trucks on light rail. Light rail is also needed and should be pursued with passion. As for wetlands and environmental concerns, they can be handled with small compromise.
Another fact is that all of us have been paying a considerable mosquito abatement tax for more than half a century. The tax is used mostly to slow mosquito breeding in the swamps-wetlands between Tremonton and Salt Lake City. My guess is that the big trucks on Legacy and the light rail west of I-15 will greatly assist mosquito reduction. Let's do both.
