The last 12 years of my career prior to retirement were enjoyably spent serving the citizens of Davis County. Recent years have seen our county involved in a growth pattern and maturing process never before experienced.
Serving as Davis County commissioner allowed the opportunity and privilege of working with our full-time County Attorney Mel Wilson. Mel's integrity, professionalism, hard working attitude and vision for the future have been unparalleled in our state. During his tenure in office, Mel has assembled an equally dedicated, competent, honest and hard-working staff of attorneys and employees in meeting the ever-increasing challenges.
The attorney's current budget breakdown of approximately 85 percent criminal and 15 percent civil workload activity has consistently been well managed within the allocated funds under Mel's direction. Excellent working relationships have been developed with law enforcement personnel leading to increased efficiency and productivity.
Mel has been an integral force behind the building and staffing of the new Davis County Justice Center. The Children's Justice Center, victim advocacy programs, victims rights programs, drug court rehabilitation programs, to name just a few, all have Mel Wilson's name indelibly stamped on their success.
Mel is recognized statewide as a strong leader and one who can be counted on for proactive resolution to the legal challenges presented to our county.
