Pam Jacobson, Salt Lake City, launches a kite during windy weather at Sugarhouse Park on Tuesday as a cold front moved in. It was such a chilly system that Wednesday morning's temperature set a new low for the date in Salt Lake City: 26 degrees, 4 degrees colder than the previous low in 1931. Temperatures were slightly warmer on Thursday, with the low of the day registering 33, said Larry Dunn, meteorologist in charge of the National Weather Service forecast office on North Temple. A weak storm system due late Friday could bring a chance of showers Saturday. But Mother's Day should be nicer.
