Eight new mission presidents, called by the First Presidency, have been announced. The new leaders and their wives will begin service about July 1. They are:

Hazel and John Allen

John William Allen, 68, Washington Tacoma Mission; Hacienda Heights 2nd Ward, Hacienda Heights California Stake; physician; stake president, former stake president's counselor, high councilor and bishop; born in Globe, Ariz., to John R. and Delia Ann Freestone Allen. Married Hazel Martineau, seven children.

A Primary accompanist, she is a former Young Women president's counselor, ward and stake Relief Society president and Relief Society instructor. She was born in Colonia Juarez, Mexico, to Charles Henry and Florence Whetten Martineau.


Kathleen and Wilbur Wayne Andersen

Wilford Wayne Andersen, 52, Mexico Guadalajara Mission; Mesa 8th Ward, Mesa Arizona Maricopa Stake; attorney, managing partner, Andersen Investments; stake president, former stake president's counselor, stake executive secretary, high councilor, bishop and ward Young Men president; born in Mesa, Ariz., to Darl Edwin and Erma Farnsworth Andersen. Married Kathleen Bennion, nine children.

A Relief Society president's counselor, she is a former stake accompanist, choir director and ward music chairman and Primary president. She was born in Waltham, Mass., to Junius and Bonita Tobler Bennion.


Deanna and Frank Wayne Elggren

Frank Wayne Elggren, 51, Philippines Tacloban Mission; Eastridge Ward, Draper Utah Eastridge Stake; partner, Neilson Elggren LLP; former ward Sunday School president, stake president, stake Young Men president and bishop; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Charles Allen and Marjorie Ada Brooks Elggren. Married Deanna Meacham, four children.

Director of Church hosting at Church headquarters, she is a former second counselor to the president of Lambda Delta Sigma and chapter adviser, Young Women president's counselor and Relief Society president. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Dean Delwin and Bonnie Marie Prince Meacham.


Janet Kay and Preston Blair Hoyt

Preston Blair Hoyt, 59, Finland Helsinki Mission; Laguna Creek 1st Ward, Sacramento California Stake; partner, Hoyt Petersen Insurance; stake president's counselor, stake mission president, high councilor, bishop and bishop's counselor; born in Sacramento, Calif., to Walter Jason Jr. and Marian Naomi Blair Hoyt. Married Janet Kay Hardy, five children.

A Primary teacher, she is former stake and ward Relief Society president, gospel doctrine and seminary instructor and ward teacher development instructor. She was born in Reno, Nev., to Homer Reynolds and Hazel Faye Inman Hardy.


Keith F. and Elizabeth Kinghorn

Keith F. Kinghorn, 62, Philippines Olongapo Mission; Salt Lake Cottonwood Stake, Cottonwood 13th Ward; vice president, owner of Davis Benefits Inc.; bishop's counselor for the Timpanogos 1st Branch, Utah State Prison; former high councilor, stake president's counselor, multi-region welfare agent and bishop's counselor; born in Rigby, Idaho, to Wilmer Clarence and Edith Fairchild Kinghorn. Married Elizabeth Shaw, seven children.

She is a literacy and service leader for the Timpanogos 1st Branch, Utah State Prison, former stake Young Women and Primary president, and ward Young Women and Relief Society president. Born in Burley, Idaho, to Samuel H. and Eliza Cordelia Nye Shaw.


Glendon and Patricia Lyons

Lavina and Clair Henry Platt Jr.

Clair Henry Platt, 64, Dominican Republic Santo Domingo Mission; Texarkana Ward, Shreveport Louisiana Stake; mission president's counselor, stake president's counselor, high councilor and bishop; self-employed cattle and poultry farmer; born in St. Johns, Ariz., to Clair Henry and Louise Hamblin Platt. Married Lavina Richey, five children.
