ST. GEORGE — KCEC-TV-Channel 25, Dixie State College's Community Education Channel, has been awarded Emmy and Telly awards in its class for achievement in sports broadcasting, said director Stan Everett. The Telly, one of the most sought-after awards in the TV, commercial and video industry, is a national recognition of excellence in the technical aspects of a total television production.

The Emmy was presented by the Southwest Region of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Dixie competed against four-year programs such as Arizona State University and the University of Texas for the award recognizing its sports coverage.

KCEC was introduced in 1995 as a nonprofit partnership among the college, Washington County School District and the cities of St. George, Santa Clara, Washington and Ivins. Charter Communications, Skyview Technologies and ClearVision Cable are also contributing partners. Both college and high school students receive hands-on training through the station.
