LOGAN — Utah State's football team put full pads on for the first time Wednesday morning, and things quickly picked up for players and coaches.
"I am very satisfied," said USU coach Mick Dennehy. "Putting the pads on and allowing the kids to get closer to executing everything that you are able to do in a game gets them fired up a little bit. Everything in a game is so much mental and so much attitude and how you look at things and the bounce you have in your step — this helps."
Dennehy is also happy about the way practice is going for his team.
"I think for the most part it is mostly good," he said. "The vets are handling everything pretty well. I am really pleased. I wish some of the younger guys and the JC guys were a little further ahead, but we have to realize that we have only had three practice days. We can't afford to slow down. The bottom line is we have to get our football team ready for a football game on August 31."
