Dick Knudsen was born May 11, 1916 to Ethielyn and Claude Knudsen in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He died January 9, 2003 in Salt Lake City.
He graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1934. In 1938 he graduated from Worsham College of Embalming, Chicago, IL.
Dick married Ione (Hobby) Hobson Nov 19, 1939. He worked for Georgetown Mortuary, Seattle, and Seattle Ship Yards during World War II. Moved to Salt Lake City in 1943 and began a 33 year career driving for Greyhound Bus Lines.
Survived by his wife of 63 years, Hobby; son, Lyle (Linda); one granddaughter, Jill Copfer (Travis); two great-grandsons, Zachary, Bailey; and brothers, Dean (Betty), Howard.
He was a lifelong member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He loved boating, fishing, bowling, golf, and his dogs.
Services will be Mon. Jan 13, 2003 2 p.m. Larkin Sunset Lawn Chapel, 2350 E. 1300 S, where family and friends may call one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Humane Society of Utah in remembrance of Dick's love for animals.
