SHARE Deswood’s career game falls just short

MONUMENT VALLEY—The state's top scorer in boys basketball had a big night but it wasn't enough.

Monument Valley's Lonnie Deswood scored a season-high 49 points but his Raiders lost to Whitehorse 87-82. Rolando Whitehorse led the Cougars with 27 points.

Whitehorse improved to 5-1 while Monument Valley fell to 4-3.

MANTI 73, NORTH SANPETE 66:James Peterson finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds, Kevin Cox scored 24 for Manti.


TABIONA 47, RICH 37:Riley Bagley scored 17 points to lead the Tigers.


DUGWAY 64, MANILA 58:Nathan Nelson and Cory Rose scored 14 apiece to lead Dugway.

BRYCE VALLEY 65, SALT LAKE LUTHERAN 60: Tied after the third quarter, the Mustangs poured in on when it counted. Dave Matthews and Levi Lefevre led Bryce Valley, scoring 27 and 18 points, respectively.

SAN JUAN 55, KANAB 44:Eldon Carroll scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Broncos.

JUAN DIEGO 73, MILLARD 42:Chad Vaculin scored 21 and Andrew Goodhand added 19 for Juan Diego.

SOUTH SUMMIT 73, GRANTSVILLE 64:Jason Woolstenhulme scored 20 points and made six 3-pointers as the Wildcats improved to 7-3.

GREEN RIVER 71, ALTAMONT 42: The Pirates blew past the Longhorns as Jake Mecham scored 18 points.

NORTH SUMMIT 67, LYMAN, WYO. 60: The Braves won it at the free-throw line, going 24-35. Rocky Pace and Adam Paskett were the leaders for North Summit with 29 points and 19 points, respectively.

BEAVER 51, JUAB 39: Wes Marshall scored 21 points, made four 3-pointers and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Beavers.



ESCALANTE 66, PIUTE 20:Tara Keefe scored 22 as Escalante torched Piute.

MILFORD 50, BRYCE VALLEY 33: Sophomore Mallory Holm scored 13 points and had five steals to lead the Tigers.


RICH 60, TABIONA 26: Rebel Sammi Stuart scored as nearly as many as the whole Tiger team with 22 points.

ALTAMONT 60, MANILA 57 (OT): The Longhorns outlasted the Mustangs thanks to 18-27 free-throw shooting.


WHITEHORSE 77, MONUMENT VALLEY 37:Dericka Dixon scored 14 points as Whitehorse improved to 7-1.


GREEN RIVER 50, EAST CARBON 34:Tawni Bigelow scored 15 points and the Pirates dished 17 assists as a team to win.

DELTA 41, PAYSON 39:Aubree Nickle scored 10 to lift the Rabbits.

MONTICELLO 60, GRAND 38: The Buckaroos took control of the game early and cruised to their sixth win of the season.

JUAN DIEGO 64, WATERFORD 58 (OT): The Soaring Eagle won the foul fest with 17 points from Natalye Blackwell and 15 from Jessica Smith.

DIXIE 61, CHAPARRAL, NEV. 50: Heidi Carlsen scored 19 points and Erin McClean added 14 to give the Flyers the win.
