Charles R. Whitney Sr. (Chick), age 84, passed away on January 12, 2003.

He was born June 29, 1918 in Salt Lake City to Charles S. Whitney and May Whitney. He married Marie C. Thorstrom on January 26, 1939 in Kaysville who preceded him in death in 1992. Chick served in the Pacific during World War II 8th Marines 2nd Division. He worked for the Rio Grande Railroad as Station Master and Assistant Superintendent. He also worked for the Salt Lake City Courts as bailiff until retiring. He was then called back to work part-time until his death. Chick was a very active person and loved camping and riding dirt bikes with four generations of family.

Chick is survived by a sister Patricia Whitney Wilde of Salt Lake City. He is also survived by two sons, Charles R. Whitney Jr. (Patricia), and Terry K. Whitney. He is also survived by six grandchildren, nine great-grand-children and many nieces and

nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Dr. on Friday January 18, 2003 at 12:30 p.m. Friends and Family may call on Wednesday January 17, from 6-8 p.m. or one hour prior to the service.
