Our mother, grandmother and dear friend, died December 25, 2002.
Born in Logan, Utah, October 11, 1920 to Ezra Parkinson Monson and Roxie LaPreal Clapp. Growing up in Blackfoot, Idaho, she met and married Bill Farmer with whom she had three children. After her divorce in 1951, she moved to Washington, D.C., and remained there for more than half her life. LaPreal worked on Capital Hill and for the Information Service in the Veteran's Administration, while rearing her children in whom she took great pride. In 1968, she married Frank Smith. After being widowed for many years, LaPreal moved to Bountiful, Utah in 1995. She will be remembered for her lifelong examples of deportment and style, appreciation of beauty, great humor and generosity. She loved people and made friends easily wherever she went. Her family adored her.
Survived by her children, Jim Farmer of Kaysville, Utah; Bonnie Lambdin of Carolina Beach, North Carolina; and Susan LeMelle of Centerville, Utah. Her posterity also included grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 4, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parrish Canyon Ward, 610 N. Rowland Way (50 East) Centerville. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main and Saturday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Centerville City Cemetery.
