12/25/15 - 01/01/03

As dawn broke over Mt. Jordan bringing a New Year, surrounded by love and music, Wm. H. Smith passed away.

He was the fifth of eleven children born to John and Anna Smith, and grew up in Crescent, Utah and Sterling, Idaho. His early years were filled with the challenges of helping to run the family farm, but then as now, there was tremendous family love and support. He graduated from Jordan High School and soon after married his sweetheart of 65 years, Ramona Harrison. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Their enduring love has been the taproot of our beautiful family tree.

As a young man, Bill started work at the Utah Liquor Control Commission, eventually becoming the warehouse superintendent, a position he retired from after 42 years. His loyal service there was interrupted by three years when he went to Fort Polk, La. to serve his Country during World War II. There he made friendships, which lasted a lifetime. He served his church in many capacities with honor and dignity throughout his life. If the measure of a man is taken by the love and devotion of his family, then Bill Smith had the full measure. Handsome enough to be a movie star, and humble enough to have no enemies, this exceptional man left a legacy of love and compassion for those of us who survive him.

His wife Ramona, his children LouAnn (Gene) Bates, Vaughn (Fran) Smith, Alene McCrimmon, and seven grandchildren, Chris Smith, Brenda Perry, Raymond Smith, Anne Farr, Allison Colson, Joshua McCrimmon, and Zachery Bates. His brothers & sisters, Margaret Yansky, Sherm Smith (Vesta), Elmer Smith, Louise Voeltz, Dale Smith, and John Petrovich. He was preceded in death by his Parents, siblings, Cecil Smith, LaRose Harrison, Gwen Petrovich, Helen Jensen, and by eight hours his brother-in-law Chick Voeltz. We think they're playing horseshoes.

Special thanks to the girls at East Sandy Beehive for their exceptional love and care.

Funeral services will be held Saturday January 4th, 10:00 a.m. at the Mt. Jordan 5th Ward, 9331 South 300 East, Sandy. Viewing Friday 6-8 at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Mortuary, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10550 So.) and Saturday from 9 9:45 a.m. at the church. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.

He will be often in our thoughts, forever in our hearts.
