MURRAY — Murray police were looking Monday for gunmen in two separate shooting incidents occurring within 14 hours of each other.
Just after 6 a.m. Monday, a man in his 40s was shot while sitting in his car just as he arrived at work near 340 West and 6400 South, said Murray police detective Rob Hall.
The gunman fired multiple rounds at close range through the driver's side window. The man in the car was hit at least four times, Hall said. The gunman left in another vehicle after the shooting.
Witnesses rushed to the injured man and drove him to the hospital. Despite being shot, Hall said the victim was still able to identify his assailant to police.
The name of the man shot was not released Monday morning. He was listed in critical but stable condition Monday.
Investigators were still looking for the gunman and had not released a possible motive for the shooting.
Police are also investigating a second shooting that occurred just after 4 p.m. Sunday. A man, 23, was shot in the leg in his apartment near 4900 South Murray Blvd.
The victim apparently had a dispute with another man earlier in the day over money. The man left but returned later with a gun, Hall said. The dispute continued, and the man shot the victim once and left.
Hall said investigators are looking at the possibility the shooting was drug-related. They believe they know the identity of the gunman and were still looking for him Monday morning.
