"Hetty"
Our beloved "Mom," Grandmother, "Oma," great and great-great- grandmother, was reunited with her loving and eternal companion, Cornelius, January 20, 2003. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple April 21, 1930 and had celebrated over 70 years together.
She was born September 29, 1908 to Willem and Hendrica Adriana DeHoop Swart in Rotterdam North, Netherlands. She immigrated to this country with her parents and three sisters in February 1928, to partake of temple blessings.
Her life was a total commitment to her Heavenly Father and family. She was charitable and exemplified kindness and generosity to all those she met. She was supportive of her husband to the extent he served an LDS two-year mission in 1948 and accompanied him on two missions in their native land in 1964 and 1978. She served as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple and had many callings in leadership positions in the Relief Society and enjoyed being a Primary worker. She led many quilting projects and was skilled in sewing, needlepoint and crocheting.
She taught love by example. She taught her children to be thrifty and frugal. Mom and dad knew the blessings of being free of debt, even in difficult times.
Mom appreciated the need for her children to become proficient in the English language. She loved her citizenship in this great nation and the Constitution upon which it was founded.
All family and friends enjoyed visiting her and enjoying a sweet delight from her Dutch cooking. She demonstrated her gracious and American hospitality and was loved for it. This humble, kind daughter of our Father in Heaven leaves her posterity with an example of faith and obedience to everlasting covenants. We rejoice in her progression and reunion with Dad and her loved ones. We will be forever grateful.
She was blessed with three sons, and a daughter: Jacob J. (Jack) (Cheri), William W. (deceased), Cornelius Jr. (Joan), Jeannette (Robert) Clark; 21 grandchildren, 60 great-grand-children and six great-great-grand-children. Preceded in death by her husband Cornelius, brother Wessell, sisters Helen, Katherine, and Wilma.
The family extends appreciation to Dr. Gregory Parkin and to the caregivers of Vista Care - Diana, John, Candace, Ken, Rebecca, Bridgett, Autumn, Jewel, Laurie and County Aging Services, Anna Woodward.
