Cheri Barnett DeGraw. age 49 years, passed away January 18, 2003.

She was born in Payson, Utah, May 19, 1953 and is the daughter of Sargent Dale and Gloria L. Smith Barnett.

Cheri attended schools in Payson and upon graduating attended Hollywood Beauty School in Provo on a scholarship. After graduation she worked as a beautician in Provo and Payson.

Cheri married Gary Lynn DeGraw in the Manti LDS Temple, September 6, 1974. They had twenty nine wonderful years

Cheri was very active in her church and community. She served on the Young Women's Stake Board. She held almost every position in her ward including Relief Society President and music director in every organization. She loved working with the youth. She was currently serving on the board of the Peteetneet Academy, the board of the Payson Historical Society, and the board of Peteetneet Company Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She sang with the popular group called " The Gems". She was an officer of the Payson City Band and the new Freedom Band that was organized for the Olympics of 2002. She served as Utah County Jeepettes President several times. She was a past board member of the Payson Community Theater, and past member of the Timpanogas Doll Club, LaNesta and Chorales Choruses. Her biggest talent however was caring for others. She will be greatly missed.

Cheri is survived by her loving husband Gary Lynn DeGraw, and three children: Ricky Lynn (Julie), Thomas Gary (Crystal) and Melanie Cheri DeGraw, two grandchildren, Sydney and Adelynn, her parents Dale and Gloria Barnett, three brothers, V.L. (Terri), Sargent Jay (Patricia), and Rusty Blake (Tamara) Barnett. Seven sisters in law and eight brothers in law on the DeGraw side, 131 nieces and nephews and her future son in law Nathan Barker. She was preceded in death by her parent-in-law, Loren and Sadie DeGraw.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 23, 2003, 11:00 a.m. in the Payson West Stake Center, 780 West 500 South. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Wednesday, 6-8:00 p.m. or at the church on Thursday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. Internment will be in the Payson City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the medics, doctors, nurses, and Hospice for the excellent, loving care given as well as the good friends who supported the family with their presence and care during Cheri's illness.
