Midway<! > - William Lowell Johnson, our father, brother and grandfather, passed away January 20, 2003 in Salt Lake City of natural causes.

Born September 13, 1934, in Midway, Utah, to Jennie Luella Pyper and George William Johnson. Lowell attended Wasatch County schools and graduated from Wasatch High School. He then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Hawaiian Islands.

He married Barbara Lois Bonner in the Salt Lake Temple on April 10, 1959, later divorced.

Lowell was employed for many years by the Utah State Division of Lands and from 1979 to present owned and operated his own business First Hand Information.

He served in many callings in the LDS Church including Midway Utah Stake High Council, Counselor in the Midway 1st Ward Bishopric and was a master teacher, teaching the Gospel Doctrine class for many years.

Lowell loved Midway and devoted many hours to community service. He served as Midway Town Clerk, President of the Midway Boosters Club, and played fife in the Martial Band. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor and preformed many unseen acts of generous service to others.

Most important was his love for his children and grandchildren, always remembering birthdays and sending weekly "care packages".

Survived by his children: Lynn W. (Robin) Johnson, Midway; Jane (Michael) Horton, Vernal; Annette (Will) Kopachik, East Lansing, Michigan; Benjamin N. Johnson, Charlottesville, Virginia; Audrey (Allan) Rice, Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren; brother: Max G. Johnson, Midway; sister: Georgia Dawn (Dennis) Clegg, Midway. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Anna, brother Keith and grandson Ryan Brisk.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 25, 2003 11:00 a.m. in the Midway 1st Ward Church, 250 East 200 South, Midway. Friends may call Friday, Jan. 24 from 6:00 8:00 p.m. at Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 N. Main St, Heber City, and on Sat. from 9:30 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the LDS Church. Interment will be in the Midway Utah Cemetery under the direction of Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home.
