Esther Stephenson Evans, 91, passed away January 27, 2003 in Provo, Utah.
She was the third of 13 children born September 11, 1911, in Holden, Utah to Benjamin Jasper and Lorena Johnson Stephenson. She served a mission in the Southern States Mission, 1938-1939. She married Dean Charles Evans on December 23, 1944 and was later sealed to him in the Provo LDS Temple. She worked with him as a nurse and as his assistant in his medical practice in Fillmore for over 30 years.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many positions including MIA president and as a counselor in the Relief Society. She also did Temple work after moving to Provo in 1980.
She loved gardening and was known for her beautiful yard which she cared for until shortly before she passed away.
She was a generous and loving mother, grandmother and friend and will be remembered for the many quilts and dolls she made and gave away.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, three sisters, Myrth Johnson, Fern Dastrup, and Helma Staples, as well as three brothers, Stanley, Willis and Glen Stephenson.
She is survived by two children, Patricia (Brent) Peterson, Provo, Utah and Dean C. Evans, M.D., Orem, Utah; four grandchildren and one great grandchild; two brothers, Wesley and Wilbur Stephenson and four sisters, Naomi Wanlass, LaRue Brockbank, Carole Lawrence and Patricia Davies.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 30, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fillmore 1st Ward. Friends may call at the Chapel from 12 to 12:45 p.m. prior to service. Burial will be in the Fillmore City Cemetery.
