Ladd J Black died January 29, 2003 at age 75 from complications with Alzheimers.
Ladd was born January 2, 1928 in Fillmore, Utah to June Whitmore and Thelma Undine Reid Black. He was raised in Delta and was a graduate of Delta High School. He attended Brigham Young University and earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. Ladd faithfully served an LDS Mission in the Mexico Mission. He married his sweetheart, Barbara Anderson on December 27, 1951 in the Manti Temple. Ladd served in the Army Counter Intelligence Corps in Panama and later worked for the State Department in Frankfurt, Germany with the Refugee Screening Program. Ladd taught Junior High and High School in Delta. He taught at Steven's Henager College in Ogden, Utah where he was the Dean of the College. He was the Manager of Taylor's Department Store in Provo and later helped establish Steven's Henager College in Provo where he also served as the Director. Before retiring, Ladd did Management Consulting for various businesses in Utah and Idaho. Ladd served in many callings in the church including High Council Member, 2nd Counselor to Stake President and Bishop. He earned the Silver Beaver award in Scouting.
Ladd is survived by his wife Barbara, Delta, Utah; sons: Michael (Crisanne) Black, Delta, Utah; Kelly (Lora) Black, Orem, Utah; daughters: Shari (Tod) Cuifici, Payson, Utah; Kayleen (Ray) Lanoy, Midway, Utah; Barbie Black, Orem, Utah; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister Bonnie (Doug) Robison, Pleasant Grove, Utah. He was preceded in death by his eldest son Dann Ladd Black.
Friends may call at the Delta Second Ward from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2003, 222 West 200 North, Delta, Utah. Burial will be in the Delta Cemetery under the direction of the Nickle Mortuary following the extended viewing. The family encourages donations to a favorite charity in Ladd's memory.
