I was utterly disgusted to see a TV news story on the night of Jan. 5 about a Salt Lake police officer who was reprimanded for displaying the American flag on his patrol car. He was told by a "superior" that it might be offensive to others.
In what country?
I am shocked that someone with such an attitude would be in a position of authority over those who are supposed to be protecting us.
The story also said that the Salt Lake Police Department "take(s) no position on displaying the American flag on patrol cars." How about taking one? I take my hat off to officer Thomas Potter for showing his pride in our country. Unfortunately, he probably won't be getting this edition of the paper. His Army Reserve unit has been called up to active duty.
