Utah's seat-belt law either needs to be revised or removed. Leaving a loophole for one segment of our population (large families) and not for another is what causes the bitterness and contempt we witnessed during the Main Street Plaza issue.
I suggest that the seat-belt law be removed entirely. The reasons for its inception were to lower state Medicaid costs and lower automobile insurance premiums. Neither has happened. All that was gained was more government intrusion into our lives.
I am not advocating the non-use of seat belts, just equality in the law.
