CEDAR BREAKS NATIONAL MONUMENT — Cedar Breaks National Monument, U-148 and the Cedar Breaks Scenic Drive, which connects Utah Highways 14 and 143, have been closed for the winter.

"We have reached that time of year when expected heavy snow accumulations and constant drifting of snow across the road have made it unsafe to keep the road open," Park Superintendent Paul Roelandt said.

That portion of U-143 connecting Panguitch with Brian Head and Parowan is maintained by the Utah Department of Transportation and will remain open throughout the winter, except during and immediately after heavy snowstorms and during periods of blowing snow.

Cedar Breaks is open to cross-country skiers and snowshoers, although snow conditions are not favorable for skiers at the present time.
