Reva Anderson Blackhurst, 78, of Pleasant Grove passed away Monday, December 8, 2003 at LDS Hospital from complications from surgery.
She was born November 25, 1925 in Cedar Fort, Utah to Wallace and Mary Berry Anderson. She married her sweetheart, LaMont G. Blackhurst, on June 14, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Reva grew up in Cedar Fort and graduated from Lehi High School in 1944. She worked at Geneva Steel when it first opened in the cafeteria.
She raised her children on the family farm in Lindon and worked at Reams Grocery Store in American Fork for many years as a bookkeeper.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions during her life including the Relief Society and Primary presidencies. Reva especially enjoyed teaching the 14-year-olds in Sunday School.
Reva enjoyed making porcelain dolls at the Senior Citizens Center in American Fork. People will remember Reva and Mont for selling pumpkins and corn on State Street in front of the family farm for many years. She enjoyed making quilts for children and grandchildren. Reva's grandchildren were the love of her life and she planned all year for her Christmas Eve Party. Even before Reva's death, her Christmas gifts and planning were all complete.
She is survived by three children: Marilyn Patch, Pleasant Grove; Analene (Wayne) Barnes, Orem; and Kelvyn A. (Julie) Blackhurst, Payson; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grand-children. Additional survivors include her sisters: Lois Cook, Cedar Valley; and Ora Peterson, American Fork; and
brother-in-law, Douglas Peterson, Cedar Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband, LaMont; son, Ronald; and sister, Verda Peterson. Reva was greatly loved for her generous nature and will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 15, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Northfield Second Ward Chapel, 1600 North 1300 West, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, and at the church on Monday one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
