While there may be a place for kindness within the police force, gay cruisers should not be afforded special or unequal treatment within our justice system. Gay cruisers knowingly commit illegal acts. Throwing a cruiser into jail for committing sexual acts in public does not, as Michael Mitchell suggests, do a great disservice.

What does do a great disservice is for a person to commit a crime and to be totally dishonest and disrespectful toward his family, spouse and religious commitments, as exhibited by a man named John mentioned in the article, "Kindness is curbing gay cruising."

It's a great fortune that our justice system allows criminals to reap the consequences of their actions, which rightfully may include the embarrassment and humiliation that three-time criminal offender John experienced when his charges were read at his hearing.
