Three of the top receivers in the Western States Football League junior-college circuit made official campus visits at BYU on Saturday.
The group included Mike Morris, a receiver from Itawamba Junior College in Fulton, Miss., who has already given a pledge to sign with the Cougars.
The WSFL reception leaders on campus included league leader Travis Brown from Dixie State College (44 catches, 785 yards 11 touchdowns); No. 2 receiver Riley Weber of Glendale Community College in Arizona (42 catches for 707 yards, five touchdowns): and Snow College's Ameen Shaheen, who ranked seventh in the league (26 catches, 422 yards, three touchdowns).
Of this group, only Brown is unable to enroll at a Division I school. He has work ahead for an associate's degree from the St. George college.
Weber helped lead Glendale to a 41-17 win over No. 13 Hutchison Junior College In the Valley of the Sun Bowl. He has taken a trip to Middle Tennessee State.
Only half of an expected dozen junior college players made official visits over the weekend to inspect the Cougar campus. The others included College of the Canyon quarterback Jason Beck and teammate Nick Longshore, who have both committed to sign at BYU this coming week. Beck and Longshore earned all-Academic, all-American honors at the Valencia, Calif., campus and will enroll at BYU in January.
Junior College recruits can officially sign letters of intent to the Division I college of their choice on Wednesday.
