Terry Lee Webber of West Valley City has been sentenced to jail in connection with an auto homicide that claimed another man.
Third District Judge Denise Lindberg sentenced Webber to zero to five years in prison for the third-degree felony but suspended the prison term. As part of a plea bargain, Webber pleaded guilty to this and to another charge of class A misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.
The judge ordered Webber to spend 185 days in the Salt Lake County Jail and 180 days of home confinement using an ankle monitor. He also was placed on probation for 36 months and ordered to participate in treatment programs.
Webber was ordered to keep an ignition interlock device on his vehicle through June 8, 2007, and must take the prescription medication Antabuse during his term of probation. Antabuse is intended to act as a deterrent to drinking alcohol and produces severe side effects if alcohol is consumed.
Webber was driving east on 3500 South near 4700 West on Dec. 31, 2002, when he drove into oncoming traffic and hit a van, according to court documents. Jungsoon Koh, who was in the van, suffered a lacerated spleen, lacerated liver and broken leg. He died Jan. 31.
