Refreshments, holiday music, packaging demonstrations, Santa and the Cat in the Hat will greet customers at the Salt Lake Main Post Office, 1760 W. 2100 South, on the busiest mailing day of the year, Monday, Dec. 15.

Utah post offices are expecting to handle more than 2 million holiday cards and packages that day. While most of the festivities will be at the Main Post Office, all 13 post offices in Salt Lake City will offer free refreshments to customers.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Main Post Office, Salt Lake mail processing clerk and part-time vocalist Phil Stevens will be dressed as the Cat in the Hat, entertaining customers with holiday karaoke. Santa will meet the kids and give demonstrations on how to properly address and prepare a package for mailing.
